Reflect on your research question writing process (at least 6 rows)....How do you feel about your question? How did your question evolved?

  1. This time the team came up with four options about topics that we could do our research question on really fast. In the end, we narrow it down into only two that were Fad Diets and ADHD. We looked up which topic had more information on the lenses that we wanted to approach the topic with. In the end, we decided to investigate Fad Diets. I feel that the research question that we came up with has different perspectives in which can be investigated from the different lens that each one of us has. We started with a general question and narrow it down to be more descriptive.

  2. Lidia Sarmiento: First, our team started out wanting to write about illegal immigration. after facing some obstacles, we completely changed our topic to Genetically Modified Organisms and their effects on world hunger. We had a hard time forming our research question because we didn't want a yes or no answer, a leading question, or something too narrow or too broad. In the end, we came up with " How can the mass production of GMOs eradicate hunger in third world countries? We divided the lenses because there is a lot of information to cover, allowing us to explore different perspectives.

I think we have a good and debatable research question. To come up with this research question we found a topic that we were all interested about. When we decide GMO there are a lot of subtopics we could include but we finally decided in third world countries and world hunger. After that we had trouble writing our research question since all the questions we lead to a yes or no answer. Finally we could write our finally question that we all agree and share the lenses depending on the interest of each person. I feel comfortable with my question, I think we will do a good job.

  4. At first my team and I had the idea of talking about cloning, but this was before December break. When we came back we thought the idea of health vaccination was interesting. Our research question at first was “Why do people in the US chose to avoid vaccination?. This research question was so broad that we got in conclusion that we wanted to focus on Parents negating Vaccination on their children. It took us a long time to get organized and at last, the research question changed: “Why do parents in the US opt to avoid giving vaccines to their children, while others continue doing so?. I believe this research question is debatable due to the fact that it has two perspectives of this idea.

  5. At the moment I am pleased with the research question my teammates and I came up with. The process was smoother than last semester. At first we had narrowed down 2 topics but we ended up changing it completely. At first our question was: How are fad diets detrimental to teenagers health? But after looking and talking about it we decided to be more specific and changed it to: How are popular fad diets presented on the media detrimental to teenagers health? So we decided to focus on a specific type of fad diets. With our pre-research we found several lenses and perspectives that can help us.

  6. Before the winter break, my team had a different research question with a different topic. We decided to change the research question after further research. I like my research question and I think there is sufficient material to make a great IRR and TMP. The topic is relevant and interesting and the research question is concise and precise. We had to change some technicalities of the question. The first question could be answered yes or no and the second question was a leading question. The research question that we have now fits our needs.

First, we as a team decided that our research question would be focused on the topic of human cloning. It sounded interesting and could have many different potential lenses, but when we researched about it there was almost no information. It is something that has been never tried before so it was difficult to come up with a research question. Monday, we decided to base ourselves on the topic of human vaccination, about why some parents choose to avoid giving vaccines to their children. Our question is basically that, and I believe that it is good and solid. It still could be somewhat improved but as of right now it is suitable to start the report on it.

The process that my team followed to establish a research questions had several struggles and team discussion. I think that coming up with a good research question is our weakness. Although after discussing and everyone sharing ideas we came up with one. We first had 3 research questions and we were eliminating them one by one to stay with the one that we like the most. It is a good research question and we can make a good research towards it, but it may be somewhat improved a little.

  9. When my team began discussing the research question, I was not in Tampico. I was not able to observe how the research question evolved in the first two days. However, when I went to class, I observed how my team was not sure about the research question. It seemed as if it was not complete. Right now, I do not believe we have a strong research question. I think that we have a good topic and we should improve the research question. However, I believe that we will continue to improve the research question and eventually have a very strong one.
