I like today's class discussion. I think it is a good way to look at your topic from a different point of view. Also, the students from the other class had different ideas from your own class that helped a lot. For example, in my experience, they told us that we could merge the physical health and psychological and also to focus only in one place since each country has its own perfect body image. It was interesting to see the different topics that everyone had. Lorena
During class discussion every team got to present their research question and a little background information about the lens each person has. After presenting our topic, there was a class discussion in which classmates argue and comment about our RQ. I learned that when working on our research question we need to think of a narrow question. We need to focus on specific details in order to have a good IRR and TMP. Besides, I also learned that whenever people are judging our work and our topic in this case, we need to take the comments as an opportunity to do better and improve.
During the class discussion, my team received some feedback from our classmates. We learned that we should focus on one type of third world countries since there are many types of third world countries (political, social, economical). Moreover, there are many factors that have to be considered when growing GMOs. The distribution of GMOs are also important and how different organizations can help to distribute the GMOs have to be considered in order to have an efficient system that can reach all of the countries that need resources around the world.
Julian Gonzalez: During class, both AP Seminar groups met and each team discussed their research question. We first introduced our research question, the main issue, and then each member individually explained their lens to the group. One thing that we learned with the suggestions is that maybe Alejandro should focus on the Social lens instead of in religion. This is because religion may enter Maria's Ethical lens, and Alejandro can talk about "Herd Immunity" and how society responds to this issue. Monir gave a good suggestion about how Isabel should address her Historical lens by researching technology refusal. Sara also gave an example of what I should focus about in my Scientific lens, to explain certain problems vaccines may bring, such as fertility in women.
Alejandro Morales Today's class discussion was pretty interesting and it was also helpful for me and for my group. I also got to know the topics of other friends that aren't in my classroom. I heard questions classmates ask them and then led to a class discussion where I learned a lot. After me and my group shared our ideas, we received some questions, after all, maybe I will change the lens I will be researching on because I took in consideration my other classmates opinions.
Valeria Morales Today’s class was really productive. The members from our and the other class gave constructive criticism to our question and topic itself. I liked the activity because we could get perspectives that we didn’t think of before. For example, we want to talk about the history of body image but we hadn’t even considered that each country has a different body standard. They also gave us insight as to if we should focus on one country or not. Overall, I learned how to accept the criticism and use it to improve.
Melissa: We had class with both groups, this gave us the opportunity to get more ideas an improve our research question. All teams pass to the center of the classroom and discuss its topic so the other could understand and give their opinon. Each team member explain their perspective and a brief explanation of their findings. In our group one boy gave a really good suggestion to improve our research question that we had not think about it before. He told us that third world countries does not specifically mean the same that there are many aspects that makes a third world country. I really think this activity was useful.
